"You will one day be able to travel back in time. And when you do, don't waste it by going to hang out with your ten year old self. Remember that."
Often we find that we spend our time wishing for a power that will always help us get a seat on the bus. But we always realize the folly of our ways. Especially when we look back from old age and realize we never rode a bus.
Often we wish we could grow up in another place and time. But too often we wish ourselves too far away or back in time, where we find out all too late that there's no good restaurants.
Often we realize that we are not meant to live in the past or future. We must live in the precious moment, where we can peacefully carve out some plans for the near future to look back and remember all that we've done.
Often we look for dream jobs to give us fulfillment. Sometimes we find that dream job. And when we find it, it usually goes well for us until the dream boss comes in and screams at us to get our head up off our dream desk and maybe do that dream report he wants. That's when we maybe start to look for another dream job or-- god forbid-- turn to the dream bottle.
Often we choose to hang out with fictional friends because we are swayed by the amount of fictional friends our new fictional friend has. But we always come to realize the illusory happiness of popularity. Rather than base our fictional friendships on who goes to the most fictional parties and hangs out with the most beautiful fictitious people, we should choose our fictional circles based on more genuine qualities-- such as fictional kindness and fictional trust.
Often we wish for luck to get us through life. But we always find that it isn't reliable. Then we realize that rather than wishing for luck we can instead build character by putting our faith in more responsible and realistic things-- such as ESP and magic.
Often we lose focus on the big picture and take criticism personally. Some of us even take it to heart. That is Ok. If you take criticism to heart it does not mean you are a bad person, it just means that you are generally good for nothing and probably not very smart.
Often, if we try very hard, we find that our pets can speak to us. And more often, if we listen to what they have to say, we realize that those aren't our pets at all-- they are actually our in-laws. And that's when we stop listening.
Often we try to glimpse the future by looking to technology. But we shouldn't try to predict the future. We should focus on the present and let the River of Life flow precisely where it will. Especially because we already know the River of Life will flow through a magical future where aluminum headsets allow Man to communicate with birds, and ice cubes are ready in just minutes.
